Baseball Game Preview: Queen Creek Bulldogs vs. Gilbert Tigers

For the second straight game, Queen Creek will face off against Gilbert. The Bulldogs will be playing at home against the Tigers at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Queen Creek blew Gilbert out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Gilbert got their revenge. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since April 11, 2024.

For Gilbert's part, Wilfredo Aviles IV made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Aviles IV also tossed a walk, which is notable because Gilbert is 3-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-11 otherwise. Aviles IV was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mason Kenas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.

This is the second loss in a row for Queen Creek and nudges their season record down to 11-5. Even worse, they were so close both times: the defeats came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Gilbert, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-12 record.
