Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Comes Up Short

Hillcrest and Webb City squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Hillcrest had to settle for second. They took a 63-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Webb City Cardinals. The Hornets' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

Webb City got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Eli Pace out in front who shot 40% from the field on his way to 19 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Pace is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last six games he's played. Travien Turner was another key player, going 5-for-11 to rack up 19 points along with five assists and three steals.

Hillcrest's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Webb City, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-12.

As of now, neither Hillcrest nor Webb City have any future games scheduled.
