Softball Recap: Rockbridge County Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Rockbridge County won the last time they faced Parry McCluer and things went their way on Saturday too. The Wildcats came out on top against the Fighting Blues by a score of 5-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Sadie Moore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on one hit and racked up 12 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.6 strikeouts per game.

On the hitting side, Brooke Hostetter was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season. Willow Rogers was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Rockbridge County's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Parry McCluer, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rockbridge County will host William Monroe at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Parry McCluer, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Buffalo Gap at 5:30 p.m.
