Softball Game Preview: Lake Minneola Hawks vs. Umatilla Bulldogs

The Lake Minneola Hawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Umatilla Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Last Wednesday, Lake Minneola came up short against Harmony and fell 8-3. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lake Minneola saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kenzie Merkey, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, Merkey posted two hits, the most she's had since back in February.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Umatilla, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Tavares on Thursday, sneaking past 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Umatilla has posted since April 16, 2024.

Lake Minneola's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Umatilla, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
