Basketball Recap: Jayson Lewis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Strawberry Crest over Freedom

Strawberry Crest entered their contest against Freedom on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Strawberry Crest Chargers fell to the Freedom Patriots 71-65. The Chargers have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Strawberry Crest lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jayson Lewis, who posted 20 points in addition to seven assists and five steals. Those 20 points gave Lewis a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Hall, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 boards.

It was another big night for Peter Radigan, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 20 boards for Freedom. Radigan has been hot, having posted ten or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Elijah Dye, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.

Strawberry Crest's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-2. As for Freedom, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 3-4.

Strawberry Crest will venture away from home to take on Wharton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Strawberry Crest knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Wharton likes a good challenge. As for Freedom, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, an 81-26 loss against Discovery on the 7th.
