Basketball Game Preview: Lake Belton Broncos vs. Waco Lions

The Lake Belton Broncos will venture away from home to square off against the Waco Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lake Belton will be strutting in after a win while Waco will be coming in after a loss.

Lake Belton will head into Monday's match on the come-up: they were handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Austin Royals HomeSchool on Monday. Lake Belton was the clear victor by a 59-36 margin over Austin Royals HomeSchool.

Meanwhile, Waco was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 54-38 fall against Connally. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 917th, while the Cadets are ranked 454th).

Waco's defeat dropped their record down to 7-16. As for Lake Belton, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 13-10.

Lake Belton didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Waco in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 73-69 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake Belton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
