Softball Recap: Buchholz Comes Up Short

Buchholz couldn't beat Bradford on Monday even though they stacked four runs on them in the fifth inning. The Bobcats fell just short of the Tornadoes by a score of 7-6. The loss continues a trend for the Bobcats in their meetings with the Tornadoes: they've now lost six in a row.

Jurnee Reed spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits.

At the plate, Leila Ricks and Madison Blackford did some serious damage despite the final result: Ricks went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI, while Blackford went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Another player making a difference was Quaniyah Robinson, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Buchholz now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Bradford, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-8.

Buchholz does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bradford, they will welcome Keystone Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
