Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Carvers Bay

Carvers Bay waltzed into their match on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took down the Lake View Wild Gators 54-37. That's more bragging rights for the Bears, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Carvers Bay's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kenard Heyward led the charge by going 5 of 10 en route to 20 points. With that strong performance, Heyward is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Another player making a difference was Jaquan Hannah, who posted nine points and seven rebounds.

Carvers Bay was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake View only posted six assists.

Despite the loss, Lake View saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Cameron Wheeler put up four points and six rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamere Barden, who posted four points.

Carvers Bay is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.8 points per game. As for Lake View, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carvers Bay will host Hemingway at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Carvers Bay is facing Hemingway at the right time seeing as Hemingway is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Lake View, they will welcome Latta at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday.
