Recap: Greeley West Spartans vs. Skyline Falcons

The Greeley West Spartans were the 54-43 winner over the Skyline Falcons when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Greeley West took a 71-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Skyline on Friday. Even though they lost, Greeley West's still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 52 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

When it comes to explaining why Greeley West lost, one person who can't be blamed is Andrew Zepeda. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with 5 steals. The matchup was Zepeda's third in a row with at least ten points. River Ortiz was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with 5 rebounds.

Greeley West struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Skyline pulled down 14.

Leading Skyline to victory were Diego Kheng and Talan Starcevich. Kheng scored 11 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists, while Starcevich scored 17 points along with 5 assists and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Andy Erives, who scored 13 points.

Greeley West still hasn't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Skyline, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Greeley West will take on Northglenn at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Skyline, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Denver North at 8:00 p.m.
