Basketball Recap: Williamson Find Success

Williamson had won three straight at home, but on Thursday they bumped up to 5-2 to make it four. They skirted past the D'Iberville Warriors 32-30. While the Lions didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Williamson found their leader in freshman Paydon Davis, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 13 boards. Davis also grabbed six steals, which is notable because the Lions are undefeated when she posts at least three steals, but 1-2 otherwise. Blessin Lane was another key player, putting up four points and five steals.

Williamson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in five consecutive games.

As for D'Iberville, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since December 10, 2024.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaymie Guice, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds. Jarrica Reed also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Coming up, Williamson will head out on the road to challenge Theodore at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for D'Iberville, they will host Gulfport at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Warriors' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
