Football Recap: Ocean Springs Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Petal + How To Watch

Ocean Springs faced Petal in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Greyhounds walked away with a 27-17 win over the Panthers. The Greyhounds' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Ocean Springs had a senior duo take command as Sharroid Whitehead rushed for 89 yards and one touchdown and Solomon Baggett rushed for 67 yards and a pair of TDs. Whitehead's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards.

Ocean Springs didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Bryson Hathorn and Lucas Sinopoli. Ocean Springs got some further help from Kaegan Lymon: he picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made five total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ocean Springs will square off against Pascagoula at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Petal, they will take on Columbia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
