Basketball Recap: Mira Mesa Victorious

After losing to Del Norte the last time they met, Mira Mesa decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Marauders snuck past the Nighthawks with a 67-63 victory on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Marauders.

Del Norte's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jackson Carpenter, who shot 73% from the field to rack up 24 points, and Riley Farrokhi, who went 6-for-9 on his way to 12 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. Carpenter has also been stellar as far as shooting accuracy is concerned: he's posted one of at least 47% every time he's hit the court this season. Another player making a difference was Oliver Cooper, who posted 11 points and six rebounds.

Mira Mesa's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Del Norte, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.

Looking ahead, Mira Mesa will venture away from home to take on Rancho Bernardo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Del Norte, they will welcome Classical Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
