Baseball Recap: Shades Valley's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Wetumpka typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Shades Valley proved too difficult a challenge. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Indians. This was payback for the Mounties, who suffered a 6-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Eli Nelson made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in February of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Kyle, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Shades Valley: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-14 otherwise.

Shades Valley's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-15. As for Wetumpka, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shades Valley will be taking part in a tournament against Holtville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Wetumpka, they will take on Reeltown in a tournament on Friday.
