Softball Recap: Tolleson Wins Going Away Against Apollo

Tolleson's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Apollo Hawks. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won 12 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Valentina Aceves looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sammie Ortega, who went 3-for-4 with two triples, one run, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adamariz Padilla, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Tolleson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They are a perfect 12-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Tolleson's record is now 16-5. As for Apollo, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Tolleson will have a chance to go back-to-back against Apollo: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
