Softball Recap: Martin Luther Takes a Loss

Martin Luther was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 18-17 heartbreaker at the hands of Varsity Opponent. Even if the Cougars couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Isabella Pinal led a balanced group of hitters, scoring four runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydia Schulze, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Martin Luther's loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Martin Luther will welcome Portledge at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Varsity Opponent, they will head out to take on Wingate at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.
