Softball Recap: St. Ignace Comes Up Short

St. Ignace couldn't beat Sault Area on Monday even though they stacked six runs on them in the second inning. The Saints lost 21-7 to the Blue Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-0 on Monday.

St. Ignace saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cadence Cullen, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Katie Halberg was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

St. Ignace's loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Sault Area, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-10.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Ignace will challenge Cedarville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sault Area, they will be playing at home against Cheboygan at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The match will give the Blue Devils their first taste of in-conference action this season.
