Football Game Preview: Highland Bulldogs vs. Alton Redbirds + How To Watch

The Highland Bulldogs will square off against the Alton Redbirds at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neither Highland nor Alton posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Highland was handed a 29-point defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Mascoutah 13-10. Those 13 points were actually the fewest the Bulldogs have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Meanwhile, Alton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were outmatched by Edwardsville and fell 37-7. While losing is never fun, the Redbirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois football rankings (they are ranked 305th, while the Tigers are ranked 45th).

Alton's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Highland, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Everything went Highland's way against Alton when the teams last played back in August of 2018, as Highland made off with a 21-0 win. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Redbirds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
