Josiah Gamez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Aidan Sullivan was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Tyler Brim, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and two RBI.
Mayfair hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Paramount fell victim to Long Beach Poly and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jackrabbits. That's two games in a row now that the Pirates have lost by exactly five runs.
Mayfair is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Paramount, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.
Both Mayfair and Paramount just can't seem to miss. The Monsoons have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. However, it's not like Paramount struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits.
