Basketball Recap: Banquete Takes a Loss

Banquete was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Falfurrias Fightin' Jerseys, falling 69-49. The Bulldogs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Fightin' Jerseys earlier this season, when they won 60-59.

Falfurrias' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Quisto Sanchez, who went 9 for 16 to rack up 22 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The matchup was Sanchez's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. TJ Forest was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 boards.

Banquete's loss dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Falfurrias, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-12.

Looking ahead, Banquete will square off against San Diego at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. San Diego knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Banquete likes a good challenge. As for Falfurrias, they will challenge Orange Grove at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Falfurrias is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.
