Baseball Recap: Mar Vista Has No Trouble Against Castle Park

Mar Vista won against Chula Vista on Thursday with 18 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. Everything went the Mariners' way against the Castle Park Trojans as they made off with an 18-0 victory. That 18 run margin sets a new team best for the Mariners this season.

Anthony Sanchez made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mar Vista is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 11-12 otherwise. Sanchez was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Daniel Snow and Jayden Tillman did most of the damage at the plate: Snow got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Tillman got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Snow is becoming a predictor of Mar Vista's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 10-13 when he doesn't). Aden Duran also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Mar Vista always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .641. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Mar Vista has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-13 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Castle Park, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-18.
