Volleyball Recap: Bloomfield Falls Despite Big Games from Delanna Russell and Davanee Willie

Bloomfield was the 3-2 winner over Grants when they last played one another back in August, but their luck changed this time around. The Bobcats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates on Saturday.

The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-14, 24-26, 25-23.

Despite the defeat, Bloomfield had strong showings from Davanee Willie, who had 12 digs, and Delanna Russell, who had 22 digs, six kills, and one block. That block was Russell's first of the season.

Mariah Melonas was a one-woman wrecking crew For Grants. as she had 28 digs and four assists. Those four assists gave Melonas a new career-high.

Bloomfield dropped their record down to 2-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Grants, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-3 record this season.

Bloomfield wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Aztec on the 6th. As for Grants, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Chinle on the 6th.
