AAAA Region III recap October 8, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in AAAA Region III this week, York beat Fort Mill 56-24. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Cougars.
Rock Hill was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from seventh to fifth in the league. The Bearcats defeated Clover 21-14 earlier in the week.
Ervin Lassiter threw for 367 yards and 6 touchdowns. He went 22-33 with 2 interceptions.
Josh Brice was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 58 yards on 17 carries as South Pointe topped Lancaster. Teammate Zaylin Burris added to the ground attack by rushing for 42 yards.
6-foot-4 quarterback Mason Rudolph of Northwestern is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,520. He has also thrown 20 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Cureton. The Nation Ford star has 28 catches for 747 yards.
An important game coming up in AAAA Region III this week will be when York takes on the Bruins. At the moment, Bobby Carroll's team is in first, while Lancaster is in sixth.
The Cougars took down the Yellowjackets 56-24 last week, the largest margin of any game.
