Recap: Mission Viejo Diablos vs. El Toro Chargers

The Mission Viejo Diablos were the 56-47 winner over the El Toro Chargers when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Mission Viejo took a 52-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of El Toro on Wednesday.

Despite the loss, Mission Viejo still got an impressive performance from Alexander Frost, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him.

El Toro got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Christian Jimenez out in front who scored 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Bass, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Mission Viejo has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-12 record this season. As for El Toro, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mission Viejo will take on Dana Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dana Hills knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully Mission Viejo likes a good challenge. As for El Toro, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Aliso Niguel at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Aliso Niguel presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than El Toro in California (Aliso Niguel is ranked 197th, while El Toro is ranked 605th).
