WPIAL AAAA Northern Eight recap Oct. 30, 2012

North Allegheny extended the longest winning streak in WPIAL AAAA Northern Eight this week by beating North Hills, 42-0. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.

Seneca Valley led the league in scoring this week after putting up 54 points on Fox Chapel.

North Allegheny's dynamic duo of Mack Leftwich and Gregg Garrity proved tough for the Indians to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Leftwich threw for 241 yards and five touchdowns and Garrity had 216 yards receiving. Zach Lyon helped North Allegheny's passing attack out by catching two balls for 25 yards.

Conner Slomka was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 152 yards on 17 carries as Pine-Richland bested North Hills. Brock Baranowski also contributed to the rushing game with 106 yards on the ground.

The Tigers' Leftwich and Garrity have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading WPIAL AAAA Northern Eight in both passing and receiving yards. Leftwich has thrown for 1721 yards this season, while Garrity, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 33 catches for 667 yards. The Raiders' Forrest Barnes leads the league in rushing yards with 1179.
