Baseball Game Preview: Whitney Wildcats vs. Liberty Patriots

The Whitney Wildcats will take on the Liberty Patriots in a tournament on Tuesday. Whitney's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Liberty's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Thursday, Whitney didn't have quite enough to beat Jesuit and fell 2-1.

Whitney got a good showing from Zach Laduzinski, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Laduzinski has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Whitney saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mason Harris, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Liberty didn't have quite enough to beat Frontier on Friday and fell 6-5. The Patriots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brady Baird was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aden Manning, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

Whitney's record is now 7-10. As for Liberty, their record now sits at 8-7.

Whitney beat Liberty 4-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
