Volleyball Recap: Ava Houchins Key Part of Team Effort in Titans Win

Tri's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Centerville Bulldogs 3-2. This was payback for the Titans, who suffered a 3-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

The win didn't come easy: Centerville scored at least nine points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 13-25, 25-20, 25-20, 21-25, 15-9.

Tri's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ava Houchins, who had 25 digs and seven assists. Houchins has been hot for a while, having posted 11 or more digs the last ten times she's played. Camrie Spurgin was another key player, getting 15 digs and two aces.

Tri was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 14 aces. They are 5-2 when they serve at least ten aces.

Tri's win bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Centerville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.

Tri didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-1 victory against Traders Point Christian on the 20th. Centerville has also already played their next game (against Cambridge City Lincoln), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
