Volleyball Recap: Oxnard Takes a Loss

Oxnard lost against Santa Barbara back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets fell just short of the Dons by a score of 3-2. While the Yellowjackets didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Dons 25-20 in the first set.

Oxnard took Santa Barbara into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking eight-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 20-25, 25-13, 25-17, 25-27, 15-7.

Caiden Aguilar paced Oxnard's offense, picking up 20 kills. Aguilar got some help from JP Mawas and his 41 assists. Aguilar was also solid from the service line: he led the team with three aces.

Oxnard dropped their record down to 10-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Santa Barbara, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 12-8 record.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Oxnard is set to face off against their familiar foe San Marcos at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Santa Barbara will take on rival Dos Pueblos at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
