The Courtland Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Eastern View Cyclones at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Courtland will be strutting in after a win while Eastern View will be coming in after a loss.
On Thursday, Courtland got the win against James Monroe by a conclusive 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Makayla Brooks made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Liz Gill was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Maddie Wilson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Courtland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Eastern View fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against King George last Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Foxes by a score of 5-4. The loss was the Cyclones' first of the season.
Cailin Rendell spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks.
On the hitting side, Sara Hopper and Jordan Werth did some serious damage despite the final result: Hopper got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Werth went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That double was Hopper's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Souliyadeth, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Having lost for the first time this season, Eastern View fell to 4-1. As for Courtland, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-5.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Courtland has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. However, it's not like Eastern View struggles in that department as they've averaged .524. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Courtland might still be hurting after the 9-3 defeat they got from Eastern View in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
