Carver comes up short despite Tony Montgomery's dominant performance

Recap: Carver Tigers vs. Dougherty Trojans

The Carver Tigers suffered their closest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They fell just short of Dougherty by a score of 64-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

When it comes to explaining why Carver lost, one person who can't be blamed is Tony Montgomery. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Montgomery is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jakobe Caslin, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals.

Jaion Burns was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with seven steals for Dougherty. Kaleke Singletary-Jinks was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Carver and nudges their season record down to 16-2. As for Dougherty, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carver will take on Columbus at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Columbus has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 186 points over their last three games. As for Dougherty, they will be playing at home against Crisp County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Crisp County is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
