Softball Recap: Strathmore Spartans vs. Woodlake Tigers

Strathmore had lost four straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 13-8 to make it five. They came up short against the Woodlake Tigers, falling 14-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-2 back in April.

Strathmore saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mollie Gillis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

As for Woodlake, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 22-1. Considering they have won 20 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Woodlake's side, Audrina Rodriguez spent all five innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on one hit and racked up 12 Ks. Rodriguez has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 16 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Marriah Ellis, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Rodriguez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Strathmore wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-0 win against Corcoran on the 8th. As for Woodlake, they have also already played their next match, a 12-0 victory against Farmersville on the 8th.
