Basketball Recap: Kearny's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Kearny entered their tilt with Morse on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They strolled past the Morse Tigers with points to spare, taking the game 67-53. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 60-59 back in December of 2024.

Kearny's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Arthur Minton led the charge by going 5 of 10 on his way to 15 points. Another player making a difference was Kailoa Yamamura-Haith, who posted eight points and 12 rebounds.

Kearny smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive matchups.

Morse lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jamarion Hall, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 boards. Hall has been hot for a while, having posted eight or more rebounds the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Rivera, who scored ten points.

Kearny has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Morse, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-12.

Kearny didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-42 defeat against Canyon Hills on the 28th. As for Morse, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 66-31 victory against Logan Memorial Education Campus on the 31st.
