Softball Recap: Dunnellon Comes Up Short

Vanguard hit Dunnellon with a four-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers fell just short of the Knights by a score of 7-6. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost seven in a row.

Dunnellon saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paola Velazquez, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run. Aden Permar also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Dunnellon's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Vanguard, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Dunnellon didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-4 loss against Newberry on the 12th. As for Vanguard, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Trinity Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th.
