Preview: Liberty Lancers vs. Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans
Liberty is 2-8 against Fountain-Fort Carson since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Liberty Lancers the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Fountain-Fort Carson Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Wednesday, Liberty came up short against Rampart and fell 50-40.
Despite the defeat, Liberty saw an underclassman step up: Samira Gantt scored 19 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gantt has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ava Dawes, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Meanwhile, Fountain-Fort Carson unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Wednesday. They suffered a rough 57-31 loss at the hands of Doherty. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Fountain-Fort Carson has scored all season.
Liberty's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Fountain-Fort Carson, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-2.
Liberty took a serious blow against Fountain-Fort Carson when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 58-27. Thankfully for Liberty, Soniah Evans (who scored 12 points along with nine steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
