Softball Game Preview: South Umpqua Lancers vs. Coquille Red Devils

For the second straight game, South Umpqua will face off against Coquille. The Lancers are taking a road trip to take on the Red Devils at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South Umpqua has seven straight wins, Coquille has 24 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Coquille's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: South Umpqua hadn't allowed a single run the last four times they've hit the field. The Lancers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Red Devils a 15-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Lancers have won 12 matches by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

South Umpqua pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Coquille, their loss dropped their record down to 0-14.
