Softball Recap: Central a & M Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Central A & M, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. Everything went their way against the Shelbyville Rams on Tuesday as they made off with an 8-2 win. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Gwyn Hardimon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 15 Ks.

At the plate, Sophie Roe was a standout: she scored two runs while going 4-for-5. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylee Snearly, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Central A & M always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Shelbyville only posted an OBP of .276.

Central A & M pushed their record up to 9-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Shelbyville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coming up, Central A & M will head out on the road to take on Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Central A & M's pitchers better be ready for this one: Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg has averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. Shelbyville will be paying especially close attention to the Raiders' match: after the Raiders faces off against Nokomis, they'll take on Shelbyville again at 4:30 p.m. on May 2.
