Basketball Game Preview: Williamsport Wildcats vs. South Hagerstown Rebels

The Williamsport Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the South Hagerstown Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Williamsport knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matches -- so hopefully South Hagerstown likes a good challenge.

Williamsport is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 82-27 win over Clear Spring. With the Wildcats ahead 46-10 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Williamsport to victory, but perhaps none more so than Markell Campbell, who posted 12 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Campbell is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Ceonta Wilmore was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on ten points and nine boards.

Williamsport smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, South Hagerstown had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victor by a 66-46 margin over Boonsboro on Friday. That 20 point margin sets a new team best for the Rebels this season.

Williamsport pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.7 points. As for South Hagerstown, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-6.

Williamsport skirted past South Hagerstown 59-57 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Williamsport since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
