Baseball Recap: White House-Heritage Makes It 12 in a Row at Home

White House-Heritage came tearing into Wednesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Stratford Spartans get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

Asbiel Benitez looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Justin Smith, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Hetzer, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

White House-Heritage always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

White House-Heritage's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 27-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Stratford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-8.

White House-Heritage will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair will be back at it again later today.
