Baseball Game Preview: Westran Hornets vs. Knox County Eagles

The Westran Hornets will head out on the road to take on the Knox County Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

On Tuesday, it was close, but Westran sidestepped Putnam County for a 4-2 win. That's two games straight that the Hornets have won by exactly two runs.

Meanwhile, Knox County had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged out Highland 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted against the Cougars since May 6, 2015.

The win made it two in a row for Westran and bumps their season record up to 9-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 3 runs in those games. As for Knox County, their win bumped their record up to 2-12.

Westran took their victory against Knox County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
