Softball Recap: Woodmont Wildcats vs. Palmetto Mustangs

Woodmont got themselves on the board against Palmetto on Friday, but Palmetto never followed suit. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over the Palmetto Mustangs. The victory was nothing new for Woodmont as they're now sitting on four straight.

For Palmetto's part, Halle Tompkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits. Tompkins has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive pitching appearances.

Woodmont pushed their record up to 7-2 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Palmetto, their defeat ended a 13-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 17-5.

As of now, neither Woodmont nor Palmetto have any future games scheduled.
