Softball Game Preview: Del Norte Nighthawks vs. Granite Hills Eagles

The Del Norte Nighthawks will square off against the Granite Hills Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The last four games Del Norte has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Del Norte is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They had just enough and edged out Carlsbad 8-6.

Del Norte let Taylor Maeda and Lainey LLamas run wild. Maeda scored a run while going 2-for-2, while LLamas scored two runs while going 2-for-5. Maeda also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season. Gabriella Datanagan was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Del Norte kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Granite Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 6-0 to Rancho Buena Vista. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.

Granite Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 2-9-1. As for Del Norte, their win bumped their record up to 6-4-1.

Del Norte skirted past Granite Hills 4-3 in their previous matchup on Thursday. Does Del Norte have another victory up their sleeve, or will Granite Hills turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
