Recap: Northeastern Clinton Cougars vs. Saranac Lake Red Storm
If the Northeastern Clinton Cougars were feeling good off their 80-58 takedown of the AuSable Valley Patriots last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Northeastern Clinton took a 58-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Saranac Lake on Friday. Northeastern Clinton has struggled against Saranac Lake recently, as their contest on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Northeastern Clinton lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Jordan Brown, who scored 21 points. Max Rabideau was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Caleb Akey was his usual excellent self, scoring 30 points along with eight rebounds and six steals for Saranac Lake. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Akey has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mik Denkenberger, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds.
Northeastern Clinton dropped their record down to 4-6 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Saranac Lake, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Saranac the next time they take the court. Northeastern Clinton will host Saranac at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Saranac Lake will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
