Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Elmwood walked away with it. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Abingdon/Avon Tornadoes on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Tornadoes: they've now won eight in a row.

Cheyenne Burge paced Elmwood's offense, picking up 13 kills. Burge got some help from Payge Ryan and her 23 assists. Ryan also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Lexi Begner, each putting up three.

Elmwood's victory bumped their record up to 23-11. As for Abingdon/Avon, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-29.

Elmwood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 defeat against Cuba/Spoon River Valley on the 29th. Abingdon/Avon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
