Piqua is 9-1 against Stebbins since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Piqua will host Stebbins at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Piqua barely beat West Carrollton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Indians put the hurt on the Pirates with a sharp 15-1 win on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Indians sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Meanwhile, Stebbins hadn't done well against Fairborn recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Indians were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Skyhawks. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by ten runs or more this season.
Evan Morgan made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). He is becoming a predictor of Stebbins' success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 3-1-1 (and 1-3 when he doesn't). Morgan was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carson Henry, who fired off two home runs, five RBI, and one triple while going 3-for-4. He has become a key player for Stebbins: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 1-4-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ryan Duke, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Stebbins was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Piqua now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Stebbins, the victory got them back to even at 4-4-1.
Everything went Piqua's way against Stebbins in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, as Piqua made off with a 10-0 win. Will Piqua repeat their success, or does Stebbins has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
