Basketball Recap: El Rancho Falls Despite Big Games from Troy Barajas and Adam Rivas

If El Rancho was feeling good fresh off their 59-35 takedown of The Webb Schools last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The El Rancho Dons fell 57-50 to the Temple City Rams on Monday. The loss continues a trend for the Dons in their matchups with the Rams: they've now lost six in a row.

Adam Rivas and Troy Barajas certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Rivas went 7 of 9 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds, while Barajas went 6 of 13 en route to 18 points. Rivas is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Andrew Morones, who posted eight points.

Dylan Lam had a dynamite game for Temple City, going 6 of 7 on his way to 20 points and five rebounds. Those 20 points gave Lam a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Collins, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 12 points.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 6-4. As for Temple City, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record this season.

El Rancho will be taking part in a tournament against Payson at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Payson will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something El Rancho surely won't give up without a fight. As for Temple City, they will venture away from home to challenge South Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
