Baseball Recap: Castle View Gets the Win

Castle View hadn't done well against Heritage recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Sabercats walked away with a 10-6 win over the Eagles. The game was the first time the Sabercats have beaten the Eagles on their field since April 22, 2015.

Keyan Lundvall made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Tommy Feldhake was incredible, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. John Drury also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Castle View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Heritage only posted a batting average of .222.

The victory made it two in a row for Castle View and bumps their season record up to 14-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Heritage, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Castle View is set to challenge their familiar foe Mountain Vista at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Sabercats 4, the Golden Eagles 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Heritage will face off against rival Legend at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
