Soccer Game Preview: South vs. Mira Costa

The South Spartans will challenge the Mira Costa Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: South has struggled recently with four losses in a row, while Mira Costa will arrive with 13 straight wins.

Last Thursday, South didn't have quite enough to beat Mira Costa and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Mustangs are ranked third).

Mira Costa pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 24 goals over those five games. As for South, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.
