Basketball Game Preview: Renaissance Academy Knights vs. Jenkintown Drakes

The Renaissance Academy Knights will challenge the Jenkintown Drakes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Last Thursday, Renaissance Academy ended up a good deal behind Chester and lost 46-29. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 424th, while the Clippers are ranked 113th).

Despite the defeat, Renaissance Academy had strong showings from Aniyah Jones, who posted eight points and nine rebounds, and Kasira Barber, who had four points in addition to nine boards and three blocks. Jones is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.

Even though they lost, Renaissance Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Jenkintown came up short against Merion Mercy Academy on Tuesday, falling 39-14. The loss continues a trend for the Drakes in their matchups with the Golden Bears: they've now lost four in a row.

Renaissance Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-11. As for Jenkintown, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.

Renaissance Academy was able to grind out a solid win over Jenkintown in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 38-26. Does Renaissance Academy have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jenkintown turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
