Baseball Recap: East Peoria Picks Up Sixth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for East Peoria, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They came out on top against the Pekin Dragons by a score of 7-3 on Monday. The victory continues a trend for the Raiders in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won three in a row.

Owen Hidden was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.

In other pitching news, Connor Watson looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had over his last four matches.

Back at the plate, Jordan Marsh and Zach Haahn did most of the damage at the plate: Marsh went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run, while Haahn went 2-for-3 with two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Marsh a new career-high. Jacob Bond also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

East Peoria pushed their record up to 23-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Pekin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 19 of their last 20 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-22 record this season.

East Peoria will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pekin: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
