Softball Game Preview: Ocean View Seahawks vs. Calvary Chapel Eagles

The Ocean View Seahawks will head out on the road to challenge the Calvary Chapel Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Ocean View's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of University on Thursday. The Seahawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ellie Pendergraft spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

At the plate, Mackenna King was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February.

Even though they lost, Ocean View hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Calvary Chapel fell victim to Fountain Valley and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They came up short against the Barons, falling 10-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.

Ocean View's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Calvary Chapel, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Ocean View took their win against Calvary Chapel when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 8-2. Will Ocean View repeat their success, or does Calvary Chapel has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
