Preview: Hoover Vikings vs. Green Bulldogs
The Hoover Vikings will be home for the holidays to greet the Green Bulldogs at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Even though Hoover has not done well against Jackson recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Hoover walked away with a 61-49 win over Jackson. With that win, Hoover brought their scoring average up to 51.7 points per game.
Hoover got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zac Braucher out in front who scored 17 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Braucher has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Crew Cain, who scored 16 points along with six assists.
Meanwhile, Green was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 70-65 to Jackson. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Tuesday (63), Green still had to take the loss.
Hoover now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Green, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-1.
Hoover came up short against Green when the teams last played back in January, falling 49-45. Can Hoover avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
